We know that you enjoy to decorate for the holiday season and to clean up everything after will take too much time and effort. Here is a list to help keep you organized after the holidays.
Sort Out The Gifts You’ll Use
Michelle Honeygyager says The first step in after-holiday cleaning is to go through all those gifts. After all, you suddenly have a pile of things for which you need to find places. And if you already felt like you had little space, this can be the biggest headache of cleaning up after the holidays.
In order to conserve space, it’s okay to go through and assess what you’ll actually use. Many of us have well-meaning relatives who still remain clueless about our personal tastes year after year. There’s no reason to take up closet space on something you’ll never use. Consider donating some of those “it’s the thought that counts” gifts.
Clean Your Fridge
You’d be surprised at how much food we can actually pack inside the fridge during the holidays! Now that it’s January, don’t forget to check everything and make sure that all food is properly tossed out when they are not suitable for eating any more and keeping the ones that need to be eaten right away in front and reachable.
Clean Where Guests Slept And Where Food Was Prepared
It’s a great idea to disinfect your house as part of your after-holiday cleaning. Flu and colds are common to anyone this time of year, so after the holidays, wash the guest bedroom linens.
You should also give your surfaces a once-over with a disinfectant solution or wipes. Focus on areas like the bathroom, the kitchen, and tables. You’ll also want to disinfect the areas where food was prepared in the kitchen to reduce any bacteria from raw meat.
Cleaning Your Oven
After a month’s worth of holiday eating, your oven will need cleaning. You can use a steam cleaner and give it a try to clean your oven. It’s super quick and pretty much eliminates all of the scrubbings.
If you don’t have a steam cleaner, you can always make a paste with baking soda and water, spread the paste inside the entire oven, leave it for 30 minutes, and then scrub and rinse.
Decide What to Keep for Decorations
Are you done sorting out the gifts you received? How about sorting out the holiday decorations. You do not want to end up with a mess by throwing everything in a box. You can start making an inventory of your decorations and keep what you’d like to keep and throw away those that are not good for another use on the upcoming 2021 Holidays.
